Welcome to the June issue of CPDR e-News! June is a banner month!! “June is the gateway to summer” (Jean Hersey) as well as the month in which we observe Flag Day14 June — to honor and celebrate the day the American flag was adopted in 1777. In June we also honor and celebrate fathers and fatherhood on the third Sunday of June — 17 June.

Here is what is happening at the Prostate Center.

Fort Belvoir Community Hospital
Information/Support Group Meetings

Meetings are every 2nd Thursday of the month

Date: Thursday 14 June
Times: 1300-1400 and 1830-1930
Location: Urology Clinic (2nd floor, Sunrise Pavilion)

Note: A military ID is required to get on post at Fort Belvoir. Attendees without a military ID need to arrive at the gate about 1 hour before the meeting to complete paperwork for post access. Also bring some form of picture identification

Family and friends are always welcomed (military and civilian).

Walter Reed - WRNMMC
Information/Support Group Meetings

Meetings are every 3rd Thursday of the month

Date: Thursday 21 June
Times: 1300-1400 and 1830-1930
Location: River Conference Room, America Building, 3rd floor (next to Prostate Center).

Note: A military ID card is required to get on base. Attendees without a military ID need to call the Prostate Center at 301-319-2900 at least 4 business days in advance to complete paperwork for gate access approval. Also bring some form of picture identification at the gate.

Family and friends are always welcomed (military and civilian).

Click on “Educational Materials” for an extensive library of print and downloaded materials on a wide variety of urologic health conditions, such as prostate cancer, enlarged prostate, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder. This link also includes a number of videos, such as Staying Healthy Through Prostate Cancer Treatment, Treatment Options for Localized Prostate Cancer, Metastatic Castrate Resistant Prostate Cancer, Life After Prostate Cancer, to name a few.
