April 2018

Hi folks—
Welcome to the April issue of CPDR e-News!

daffodil close-up Ok, other than April Fool’s Day and tax day (and maybe some rain.. or lots of rain?), April is one of the grand months….more “spring-ish” than March and less “hottish” than June! Maybe you want to spring into action… take a spring break… do spring cleaning… plant spring bulbs…spring forward….or get a spring in your step! Educational Resources

Promoting Wellness. Beyond Hormone Therapy (3rd edition) written by Dr. Mark Moyad is an excellent, comprehensive and easy-to-read book about options for patients who have hormone-refractory prostate cancer. It addresses such drugs as Denosumab, Provenge, Abiraterone, Enzalutamide, Taxotere, and Xofigo in an understandable way! It includes chapters on preventing and lessening side effects as well as diet and lifestyle tips. Included are some exciting new treatments in the pipeline.

And in Health. A Guide for Couples Facing Cancer Together by Dan Shapiro, PhD (a health psychologist and cancer patient and the spouse of a cancer patient) is a remarkably helpful, compassionate, grounded and practical “go to” book for couples managing the myriad complex emotional and medical issues of living with cancer.
